Your Data and Choices
What this site counts, what it can remember, and the switches for both.
Counted for everyone, anonymously
Our server counts page views so we can see which pages help people and which do not. It uses no cookie and no identifier, and page counts never involve your IP address. For each view it notes:
- the page, without anything after a “?”, and whether it existed;
- the kind of place you came from — a search engine, an AI assistant, a social site, one of our sister sites, or the other website’s name — never the full address;
- any campaign tag in the link you followed;
- whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer, and the hour of the day.
Within minutes those notes are added into daily totals, and no single view is kept for more than two days. Nothing can link one visit to another, or to you. Clicks through to our store are counted as a total per product. If you have not accepted optional cookies, a calculator run is counted only as categories (age band, BMI category, fast length and so on) and a coach message is counted without its words.
When you use the coach, the calculator or a form, our server also keeps a scrambled form of your IP address for up to a day, only to stop abuse. Our web host keeps its own server logs for security. Neither is used for these statistics.
We count your visits, anonymously, as described above.
The switch sets one small cookie, al_nc, for a year, so we remember not to count you. Clearing your cookies resets it. We also stop counting if your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track.
Switching counting off stops only the anonymous statistics; to stop the coach and calculator remembering you, decline optional cookies or use Forget me below.
Optional cookies: let the coach and calculator remember you
If you accept, we set a cookie (al_sid) holding a random code, signed with the site’s own key. With it, the calculator hands your figures to the AI coach, and, if you also say yes to “Remember me” in the coach, the coach remembers your conversation (with email addresses, phone numbers and postcodes removed), short safety notes such as medicines or conditions you mention, and the pages you have read — for 180 days after you last use it. If you sign up for the SMS companion and confirm your number by replying YES, the coach and the texts share that memory.
If you decline, nothing is remembered: you are only counted anonymously, as above, and the coach keeps only the current conversation, for up to 12 hours.
You have not chosen yet. Until you do, nothing is remembered about you.
Declining after you have accepted also asks our server to forget this browser, as below.
Forget me
This deletes what our server holds against this browser’s code: your profile, your calculator figures and the coach’s memory of your conversation, including its safety notes. Usage records lose their link to you — figures become bands and question text is deleted. It also switches optional cookies off, and clears the coach conversation and calculator figures saved in this browser. Your basket is kept.
If you also use the SMS companion, your text conversation stays with the SMS service and follows its rules (below) — reply STOP to end the messages. Only its link to this browser is removed.
Using another browser or device? Press the button there too: we cannot tell which browsers are yours, which is the point.
Text messages (the SMS companion)
When you sign up we send one text asking you to confirm the number is yours, and nothing else is scheduled until you reply YES. A sign-up that is not confirmed within 48 hours is deleted, and we send at most one confirmation text to a number a day. Reply STOP to any message and they end straight away; reply HELP for help. Your plan and its messages are kept until 30 days after the plan ends, and the coach’s memory of your texts until 180 days after you last used it. We keep a record that you agreed (your number, the wording and the date) as proof of your consent for 24 months after your plan ends or you reply STOP, and a scrambled form of any number that replied STOP stays on our “never text again” list permanently. Twilio delivers the messages for us.
“Tell me when it is back” lists
One message when the product returns, and nothing else. Your details are deleted 30 days after that message, or after 12 months if the product does not come back. To be removed sooner, email support@autophagylabs.co.uk. Details are in the privacy policy.
Community check-ins
Check-ins are public. A check-in without a note appears straight away; a note is read by a person first. Posts show a made-up name, kept in a cookie (al_handle, 180 days) so your posts carry the same name. You can delete your own check-in from the browser you posted it from, or email support@autophagylabs.co.uk with the name shown on it and roughly when you posted.
The full detail, including every cookie and every company that receives data, is in the privacy policy. Questions: support@autophagylabs.co.uk.
